As a vessel for healing in a variety of different forms, I rely on my intuition to channel energy of renewal into the lives of the clients who seek out my services. Acting as an intermediary to help usher in transformation and breakthrough can take many forms, and my life’s path has been dedicated to exploring a constant continued education. As such, I have completed two different levels of Reiki certification as part of my qualifications. Often, I am asked more about this particular form of wellness. What Is The Origin of Reiki?

Reiki is rooted in ancient Japanese tradition dating back to the late 1800’s. The Japanese root of the name translates relatively literally to universal (rei) life energy (ki). Today, the forms that are most commonly practiced are derived from Buddhist teachings that started to spread in the United States following WWII.

How Does Reiki Work?

In keeping with the universal life energy principle, Reiki is a type of energy healing that targets the energy fields around the body. When mind, body and soul are fully healthy and functioning, there is a free flow of energy that transfers to and from our selves, interacting with the universe around us. However, when we are not at our healthiest selves, there can be blockages in the flow of energy, resulting in physical pain, tension, emotional discomfort and other more severe and detrimental impacts. Similar to how acupuncture would target these areas, Reiki does as well, though rather than needles, the practitioner is directly placing hands lightly on or above specific areas of the body.

What Should I Expect From A Reiki Session?

If you have never had a Reiki healing session prior, you may not know what to expect. The good news is at the very least, you will find yourself intensely relaxed following the session, so no need to worry! We will situate you in a comfortable seated or laying down position, eyes closed. Depending on the client’s individual needs this will guide the duration and hand placement of the session; for example for particular physical injuries, we can dedicate time to that sport on the body. You may feel warmth, vibrations or tingling sensations as you tap into the energy that is being transfered.

What Are The Benefits Of Reiki?

In removing blockages, Reiki allow’s the body’s natural healing process to step in and do what it does best. This also results in feelings of lighter mood and reduced stress, anxiety or depression, provides a sense of calmness and determination for coping with tough situations, and has been known to alleviate chronic pain, autoimmune symptoms and much more.
